Open Water Course Tioman Island
Come to Aman Tioman Diving Center for the best open water SCUBA diving certification course on Tioman Island. Learn the ropes of entry diving amongst some of the most beautiful underwater views in all of Southeast Asia. Our PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) trained staff will be there teaching and guiding you every step of the way, ensuring that you maximize your learning experience and enjoy the journey.
Learn Essential Open Water Diving Skills
Our Tioman Island open water diving course will teach you the essential SCUBA diving skills you will need to stay alive and well when diving into the ocean depths. As a PADI certified training facility, we will teach you important skills like regulator recovery (how to replace a knocked out regulator without drowning), mask clearing (how to continue diving if your mask fills with water) maskless breathing (how to not drown if you lose your mask) alternate air source use (how to tell your buddy you are out of air and breathe their air) air depletion (getting used to the feeling of oxygen deprivation) cramp removal (how to survive cramps) and most important of all, CESA (Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent), which you will need when you have lost your buddy, have only one breath of air left, and you are trapped several meters beneath the surface. CESA will teach you how to ascend at a safe, controlled pace, exhaling or screaming on the way up, so as to prevent nitrogen narcosis, decompression sickness (DCS), arterial embolisms and barotrauma that is beyond acceptable levels. Here at Aman Tioman Diving Center, learning SCUBA diving isn’t just perfectly one hundred percent safe, it’s also good fun too!
Experience Tioman Island’s Natural Marine Beauty
While you are learning these lifesaving skills, it’s important to stop and smell the roses – Tioman Island is home to some of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant and thriving coral reef formations. Designated a protected marine park zone by the Malaysian government, Tioman island’s reefs have only experienced a 42% decline in health since the island was opened for tourism, ensuring that prospective divers will enjoy some of the most beautifully preserved natural sights in the nation.
You may encounter all kinds of exotic wildlife here, including fish, crustaceans, corals, cetaceans, chelonii, echidnoderms, Medusozoa and sharks – some are outgoing, some are shy, and only a very few of them are dangerous to human beings. For those worried about shark attacks – there is no need to fret! Sharks are perfectly harmless.
For conservation minded visitors, open water certified divers can also join in local efforts to save the marine ecosystems that billions of people around the world depends on for survival. Tioman Island has regular initiatives for divers to clean up the mountains of underwater trash left behind by tourists and resorts, as well as coral replacement measures to help repair the damage.
